NUTRITIONIST BIRMINGHAM

Nutritionist Birmingham

ABOUT HELEN

Helen is a qualified and registered Birmingham Nutritionist.  Having studied with the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) for 3 years Helen achieved a diploma on Nutritional Therapy with distinction.

Helen understood the importance of Nutritional Therapy first hand and this is her story of how she came to be a Nutritionist.

‘Having spent many years working in a traditional office environment I had seen my health deteriorate as I spent more time each day sitting down, eating more and more convenience foods, working longer hours and not getting much sleep.  I put on weight, struggled with my energy levels throughout the day and had started getting heart palpitations.  I knew I needed to do something.

I finally reached a point where I said no more and sought out help with a nutritionist to address my diet and lifestyle.  I was amazed by the changes I felt and could see the amazing benefits nutritional therapy could have.  This inspired me to make my own career change and study nutritional therapy myself so I could share this knowledge with everyone else.’

Helen helps people everyday through 121 online consultations so whether you are in Birmingham or anywhere else in the UK get in touch to see how Helen can help you.

THE PROCESS

What Happens at a Consultation

BEFORE THE CONSULTATION: You will be sent a questionnaire to complete covering your concerns, symptoms and health goals. This is a comprehensive questionnaire that helps to get a full understanding of what is going on to help us get to the root cause of your condition rather than just tackling each individual symptom.

INITIAL CONSULTATION: The first consultation is conducted over Zoom and we will discuss the answers you have given in your questionnaire and dig a little deeper.  This helps link the different symptoms together and understand the body systems in more detail and how they are connected.  We will talk about your likes and dislikes and what you will find achievable so that a personalised plan can be made and sent out to you within 2 days of your appointment. We will also discuss any testing that my be appropriate to help pinpoint underlying issues.

FOLLOW UP CONSULTATIONS: These generally happen around 4-6 weeks after your initial consultation.  These are a time to understand how you are progressing with your plan, what are you enjoying and what is proving to be a challenge. It is also when any tests results will be reviewed and discussed.  Updated plans will then be created to help drive you on further with your health goals.

FAQ's

How much does it cost to see a Birmingham Nutritionist?

Seeing a nutritionist can cost anywhere between £50 and £500 per consultation or even more. However, you need to be careful to find a nutritionist that is actually qualified and registered and these will generally cost over £100. Although Helen is a Nutritionist in Birmingham she keep s costs down by offering consultations online with initial consultations costing £150 and follow ups costing £90 and has a diploma in Nutritional Therapy and is registered with the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (ANP).

Where are the best places to eat in Birmingham?

Eating out and enjoying your food are such an important part of life and it’s such a myth that nutritionists don’t really eat at restaurants. However, sometimes it is good to look for healthier alternatives. As a Nutritionist Birmingham these are some of Helen’s favourite healthy eating places in Birmingham:

            • The Warehouse Cafe – 54-57 Allison Street, B5 5TH
            • Natural Bar and Kitchen – Orion Building, B1 1LT
            • Kitchen Garden Cafe – 17 York Road, B14 7SA

What's the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?

Unfortunately the term nutritionist is not protected and anyone can claim to be one even if they have little or no training.

Because of this you want to look for a Nutritional Therapist who is qualified and registered with a governing body such as ANP. Nutritional Therapists take a holistic view and understand that all the body systems are connected.  They also take a personalised approach understanding that every client is individual.

Dietitians tend to work within the NHS and are also registered and regulated. They often work to support specific medical conditions.

There are a number of qualified Birmingham Nutritionists or Nutritional Therapists including Helen Jane Nutrition.

What can a Nutritionist help me with?

A Nutritionist can help with many health conditions. They can help you understand the root cause of your condition rather than just trying to treat the symptom.

As a Nutritionist Birmingham Helen Jane can help support in the majority of conditions (see the supported conditions page for more details) and specialises in Menopause, Women’s Health, Hormones and Weight Loss.
